IInternet Unie considers it important to treat the climate in a responsible way. In our branch, as supplier of datecenter services, we are in a position to achieve many improvements in the short- and long term. The consumption of less electricity is not only of importance in the area of the environment, but it also offers financial benefits. Electricity is becoming increasingly expensive. In the datacenter, we are using more and more environment-friendly facilities, efficient servers and other technologies.

Innovative technologies
The cooling of rooms is done using a compressor that uses a minimum amount of energy. This is called the Free cooling system. The combination of outside air and the compressor ensures that the compressor consumes less electricity.

By making use of sustainable energy sources such as solar-, wind- and water energy, electricity is generated in an ecologically-responsible manner. All the electricity used by Internet Unie is 100% green electricity.

At this moment, Internet Unie makes almost exclusive use of the Cold Corridor principle in which our Racks are kept at the ideal temperature. This ‘ideal’ temperature results in much less electricity being consumed by the servers. Additionally, there are other environmental factors we take into account, such as paper reduction, low-energy lighting and heat exchangers for office heating.

Climate Neutral Group
For other non-climate-neutral energy consumption, Unie works together with the Climate Neutral Group to compensate this CO2 consumption. This is done through the planting of forests, solar- and wind energy projects, gas extraction from biomass and other similar projects that neutralise CO2 emissions.

By making use of the principles described, in combination with the appropriate equipment and suppliers, Internet Unie takes up a pioneering role in corporate social responsibility while at the same time making sure that its customers participate automatically in the process.
